Where should a non-resident living in the US buy international travel insurance?

วันเสาร์ที่ 11 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I am a foreigner living in the US, so I could not buy any travel insurance that requires US residency. This summer, I will be traveling back to my home country on a business trip. I am for looking for a type of insurance that could cover my time both in my home country and during my round trip flight. Thank you very much!

What company has the cheapest single trip travel insurance for a trip to australia for the over 70's?

วันศุกร์ที่ 10 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I looking to get as cheap as possible travel insurance to visit my entire family in Australia, can anyone help?

I just bought travel medical insurance for my father in law who is 70 and coming to the USA from China. TravelEx will cover for pre-existing conditions so long as you purchase 21 days in advance, if there are no pre-existing cond. then its no problem - You can get a free quote here --> http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index.asp?location=07-0018

You will need to book that through a company in your home country, you can't do that through Australia.

A tip though, most insurance companies offer travel insurance, so if you hold any other insurance look through them first, they usually give a discount.

The best site I know of for the more senior traveller wanting insurance is Insure For All - http://www.insureforall.com - I know they're MUCH cheaper than Saga... not sure how they come up against others in the market.

Good luck!

Try Saga. They do the cheapest annual so it could follow for the single trip.

Hi,

I have found this site to be useful. Check it out.

How much can I expect to pay for travel insurance?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 9 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I'm thinking of traveling from Canada to the USA for a week next summer. I am 69 and my wife is 67. I have high cholesterol and triglycerides treated with a statin and my wife has some balance problems. Generally, our day-to-day health is fine.

Can you tell me about how much it will cost to buy travel insurance for medical risks if we decide to go?

Go to insuremytrip.com and compare the various policies. It's the most comprehensive website out there.

What can I do when the travel insurance company denies a claim?

วันอังคารที่ 7 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I bought a travel insurance for my dad when he came to visit last year. It was for an emergency coverage. He did got an emergency treatment for kidney failure. After long process of filing, now I got the news that it is denied due to pre-existing condition. What can anybody suggest that I do?

You'd have to hire a lawyer. The fine print in those insurance policies renders almost any illness as "pre-existing".

Get their declination in writing and ask that it specify the exact reason why they are declining your father's claim. Once you have it in writing then compare it to the policy. Is it in fact a pre-existing condition or is there a misunderstanding? To be considered a pre-existing medical condition it has to fit their definition. If it doesn't than it's not a pre-existing condition. Depending on what you find out you can ask the insurance company to have a supervisor review your father's claim. Make sure you explain why you feel it is covered and why it's not a pre-existing condition. If you still haven't received satisfaction than you can go to your State Insurance Department and file a consumer claim complaint with them.

Where is the best place to compare travel insurance products and find the best value?

วันจันทร์ที่ 6 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I am interested in worldwide travel insurance to cover multi activity, baby and US travel. But I want to get the most for my money, not just the cheapest

I would call an insurance broker - they have a range of policies that are half decent. Internet policies (aggregator especially) tend to exlcude pre-existing medical conditions, terrorism cover and have high excesses (to get the price down) whereas a broker will offer you a better policy.

One of the best cover wise is the BIBA travel insurance scheme - £40 excess per person per incident (not per section) with a £80 excess maximum per family. The annual policy is 45 days a trip.

With regards to activities, quite a range is covered but a broker will ask you about higher risk activities and recommend a policy that covers them.

try 1stoptravelinsurance.co.uk

Money Supermarket - Travel Insurance http://www.moneysupermarket.com/travelinsurance/ But if you have a pre-existing medical condition I would suggest you contact a local broker.

Try Squaremouth. Its a comparison site that has sort by price, sort by best benefit and policy side by side comparison.

You can also filter by other things such as hazardous sports.

http://www.squaremouth.co.uk.

There is also a USA site which may be worth checking out due to the good exchange rate at:

http://www.squaremouth.com.

Based on your question, I just want to warn you that a bunch of people are going to suggest to you that you check out a company called Squaremouth. Please be advised this company is notorious for posting their spam here. It has been a big topic of discussion among a travel forum that I subscribe to. Many of my fellow travelers have been directed there, only to find they do NOT have the best deals. I think they must pay people to lurk in yahoo answers and get themselves some free advertisement. If you want to email me privately I will point you in the direction of some honest folks who have been in the biz for 30+ years and can get you a good deal and lots of options. Also, avoid insurance offered through travel agents and the post office. Here's wishing you a safe journey!!!

If you will email me. I can give you several very excellent companies.

What to avoid when choosing an annual travel insurance?

วันอาทิตย์ที่ 5 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

We are choosing annual travel insurance because of frequent short trips over the weekends or a 1 week trip. Having many options out there has overwhelmed us with a lot of information. Therefore, we would want to find out what are the "No" that we should consider filtering the options?

I found interesting information about your answer here. http://all-insurance-online.blogspot.com/2007/08/specialty-insurance.html

Good luck!

How do you find good travel insurance?

วันเสาร์ที่ 4 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

We're traveling to England in May - I've never bought travel insurance and want to know how we find good/reliable insurance? Thanks.

There are some good travel insurance companies. Get ones that pay your expenses or pay you in cash. Dont get ones that make you take another trip or give you a voucher to travel again with them.

I only buy insurance if the trip is WAY more than I can afford to lose.

Read the fine print of the policies before you purchase.

try http://www.simplyinsurancequotes.com/travel-insurance-quote.php?a12 they start at $30 and have offices there. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080313053101AA0pKM2&kid=E7xIImzNOHJAMdHOOhhV&s=comm&date=2009-01-11+23%3A34%3A36&.crumb=

What does this mean in travel insurance description?

วันศุกร์ที่ 3 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

Every travel insurance policy I read says something along these lines:

"Exclusions.

The policy does not

cover any loss caused by:

pregnancy or childbirth, or elective abortion, other than

the Complications of Pregnancy;"

What do they mean by "other than complications of pregnancy"?

Does that mean that if i purchased their insurance they would not pay for doctor check-ups, but they would pay for a pregnancy emergency?

I know they generally don't cover pregnancy, but what if something goes wrong and the child comes three months early, or gets sick, or such?

I would be really grateful for any answers. Thanks.

If you had an unforseen pregnancy complication - like toxemia, they'd pay, IF IF IF the high blood pressure wasn't pre-existing, which it probably was.

If the BABY comes early, the BABY flat out isn't covered. Only the TRAVELER is covered, and usually only for ACCIDENTS.

Travel insurance is NOTORIOUS for not paying for "health" issues. It's intended, for a broken ankle kinda thing. NOT for, oh, you had a heart attack because you're overweight and had high cholesterol.

Is travel insurance a requirement to travel to the USA?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 2 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I have a relative looking to visit me here in the USA. They have obtained all of the required visa and documents to travel. The airline though is asking them for travel insurance information. They claim that people have to have insurance before they can travel. Is this true? I know when I travel internationally, I do not have to get anything.

It could very well be true. Although they are different countries to where you are, we are in the UK and when we book to go to Ireland the company we book with insists on having our insurance details. Besides, as the first answerer says...they would be daft to travel without it as the cost of treatment is far more than the cost of the insurance. Accidents do happen...believe me, I broke an elbow last year, and a few weeks after that was healed I broke my foot...if I had been abroad I would have been in sh*t street without insurance!

Travel insurance is not a requirement, but it is a good idea for any reason (illness, missed flight, etc.) you can't follow through with the trip. It is not that expensive and would allow the traveler to be reimbursed for their travel expenses.

It is not true but it would be foolish to travel to USA without insurance.A few days in hospital would cost thousands of dollars.Even a visit to a doctor would cost you ten times the price of insurance.

You may try to google it,here http://www.InsuranceFreeTip.info/insurance-for-free.htm has some direct resource that might be helpful.

What is best world cover travel insurance?

วันพุธที่ 1 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I stay in UK and at end of month will travel to China and need to get travel insurance, probably annual in case I go off again somewhere in a years time. Previously I was with Direct Travel Insurance, they seem to have good cover and are reasonable, but do you know a better one? Pray tell!

Im with Boots,

annual, worldwide.

£125 for a family policy.

From my personal experience (I travel to China ten times per year for periods of one to two months each time.)

I like TravelEx insurance. They have offices in China, and they have always been prompt at dispursing claims I've made for travel delay. I've never had the chance to test the metal of their medical component though it appears to be robust.

You can get a quote at this link below:

http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index.asp?location=07-0018

Check out the insurance with the Post Office, I have found them with good terms and conditions and competitive in the past.

Susan got it right, TravelEx is definately the way to go.
