British Travel Insurance While In The States?

วันจันทร์ที่ 18 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552

Hello,

I will be going to California for 26 days this summer and am currently trying to find a travel insurance to cover my trip. I might go to Mexico for a day or two as well so that should be covered too.

I know that Boots does an insurance but it seems rather expensive. Do you know of any other options? Preferrably I'd like to be able to walk into a store in London and purchase it rather than doing it online.

Thanks.

go to travel supermarket.com which has a search engine will give you details.

Dont forget your bank might give you FREE travel insurance with some accounts or your credit card might do this if you pay for the holiday from your card.

Help! Can you purchase travel insurance after you have left your home country?

I am an Australian in Canada and my travel insurance ran out 7 days ago. My insurer will not extend my policy as it has been more than 48hrs since it lapsed, and they won't issue a new policy because I have already left the country. Does anyone know of an insurance company that will offer cover after you have already left home?

Hello, Kat. Here is your solution. You can get great coverage from the industry leader and it can go into effect tomorrow. It does not matter that you are not at home. You can get a quote and buy the coverage over the Internet. It will cover you anywhere you go outside your home country, Australia. Of course, if something has happened during the time you were not covered, that will be excluded. Go to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/index.htm and click on the red phone booth next to TravelGuard. Read about "Worldwide Health" insurance and buy on-line if it suits you. The policy covers health issues and trip interruption issues as well.

I hope you are enjoying your trip - aren't Canadians great!

Best wishes.

You can get the IMG Patriot travel insurance plan even after you have left your country of citizenship. You can get a quote and purchase online via: http://www.globaltravelinsurance.com/quote.htm http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20060808212027AA70aF7&kid=N8Z_XEHtAkjQe7Ja.15t&s=comm&date=2007-05-08+20%3A32%3A12&.crumb=

At least for me... my health insurance will cover emergencies when I'm out of the country. I'm American though, I'm not sure about for others. Not sure if you can purchase another travel insurance policy though.

Doubt it, but call and find out

You might be eligible for a travel medical policy. You should check with one of the travel insurance comparison web sites that offer travel insurance. The major ones are:

http://www.quotewright.com

http://www.worldtravelcenter.com

http://www.insuremytrip.com

Call your home owners insurance agent and ask them. You could be covered all ready!

If i buy a joint travel insurance policy do I always have to travel with my partner to be covered?

I am looking at purchasing a joint travel insurance policy, however, if I do this does it mean if I travel alone I am not covered? do I always have to travel with my partner for the policy to work?

It depends on the terms of the policy - each contract is different.

Where can I get cruise travel insurance?

I'm trying to find travel insurance for my mum and dad who are going for a cruise in Europe. They need to get cover for their trip and it needs to include air ambulance rescue but I'm not sure where to get it?

www.moneysavingexpert.co.uk has a great section on travel insurance, and best buys for specific holiday types, as well as travellers with differing needs, such as elderly, families, disabled, annual and single trip cover. It's a not for profit site, so you're not lining someone's pockets by using it. I've had travel insurance for cruises from general insurance policies, though realise that you're looking for something that's very exacting.

The specific part of which covers insurance is here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/cheap-travel-insurance

I recommend this is a good starting point, as you can see which insurers are best buys, and offer the best value with good cover. I'd then contact some of the insurers directly, and check for air ambulance cover inclusion - I don't personally know any, and I'm not sure that this site covers this specifically - I had a brief look through it though didn't see it.

Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob

Firstly, most cruise companies offer insurance cover as part of the holiday, which may not be the cheapest or best but is convenient. If that hasn't suited in this case, then ask a broker or shop around online. With insurance as in many other things, you get what you pay for; it sounds as though you may be willing to pay more for air ambulance rescue (and you may have to). If your parents are in an older age group (I say tactfully!), remember that Saga specialise in products including insurance for the over-50's.

http://www.gotravelinsurance.co.uk

It cost me £55 for two weeks jan 2009

scroll right to the bottom of the page and in tiny print you click on...1stoptravel.

They do cruise travel for over 60s

it's difficult to get anywhere else for older people

Most cruise lines will offer insurance but before you buy it be sure to shop around and compare plans and prices. If you're in the USA the best place to compare insurance is at QuoteWright.com.

TravelEx. Get a free quote here. http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index.asp?location=07-0018

Try http://www.worldwideinsure.com/

I am a senior and I always use Travelex

http://www.travelex.com/us/personal/travelinsurance.asp?content=tie

It has all of the options that you could want including medical evacuation if you select the full plan. I usually select the Travel Lite option since I don't have any medical problems. You can go to their web site and get a quote before you buy so you know exactly how much. Their rates are based on age, the price of the cruise and the amount of time from the effective date of the policy until all travel is completed.

Another web site which allows you to compare travel insurance plans and rates is this one (insuremytrip.com): http://www.insuremytrip.com/p/myquotecalc?pid=1000&spid=0&linkid=13521&rid=43&DM=05&DD=01&DY=2006&RM=05&RD=20&RY=2006&agentcommission=&agentcommissioncalc=&predestination=8&triptype=Cruise&AGET1=62&AGET2=60&AGET3=&AGET4=&AGET5=&AGET6=&AGET7=&AGET8=&AGET9=&AGET10=&VIEWAGET1=62&VIEWAGET2=60&VIEWAGET3=&VIEWAGET4=&VIEWAGET5=&VIEWAGET6=&VIEWAGET7=&VIEWAGET8=&VIEWAGET9=&VIEWAGET10=&usedob=&T1DOBMONTH=&T1DOBDAY=&T1DOBYEAR=&T2DOBMONTH=&T2DOBDAY=&T2DOBYEAR=&T3DOBMONTH=&T3DOBDAY=&T3DOBYEAR=&T4DOBMONTH=&T4DOBDAY=&T4DOBYEAR=&T5DOBMONTH=&T5DOBDAY=&T5DOBYEAR=&T6DOBMONTH=&T6DOBDAY=&T6DOBYEAR=&T7DOBMONTH=&T7DOBDAY=&T7DOBYEAR=&T8DOBMONTH=&T8DOBDAY=&T8DOBYEAR=&T9DOBMONTH=&T9DOBDAY=&T9DOBYEAR=&T10DOBMONTH=&T10DOBDAY=&T10DOBYEAR=&TCI=3500&TCIT=7000&BI=&TAI=50000&Residence=NC&Feature=&product=&x=25&y=17&o=200601196027342&pid=1000&linkid=13521&rid=43&Run=QuickQuote&compare=false&printerfriendly=&printplan=

It also allows you to tailor your insurance plan to your needs and then select a company that you want to use. It's a good site because it gives the names of several companies that you can contact independent of the web site.

I have used Travelex several times and also filed a claim with them due to a trip interruption. They responded quickly, I provided additional info they requested and then they paid the claim promptly with no argument.

Where can I find travel insurance to cover me for a trip that doesn't start and end in the UK!?!?

I'm studying temporarily in France but am planning a holiday to Germany for 2 weeks. I'll be departing from and returning to France but all the travel insurance companies I've tried so far need me to be flying from and back to the UK.. And french companies need me to be a "permanent resident" of France... which I'm not!! What should I do?

Have you tried www.travelsupermarket.co.uk

They are usually quite accommodating of unusual situations

try bupa as far as i know they do a yearly travel insurance that will cover you in Europe or one that covers the world and is by far the best and it make no different where you start form where it ends you dont even have to tell them when your going or coming your covered once you take it out the vhi in Ireland have one to

Are you not having travel insurance when you are in France??

You can just get that extended for the other countries you plan on visiting.

You could try www.portwood.co.uk - they'll quote for non-UK residents.

Yearly travel insurance from post office covers you wherever you go.

Can I get travel insurance and from where?

Will I still be able to take out a travel insurance policy for my holiday to Cyprus even though I was in hospital recently. I have been told by the hospital that I'm allowed to go, however my mum wants me to take out travel insurance, to cover baggage loss, stolen baggage, and any medical expenses. However my mum thinks I wont be able to get a policy because I was in hospital recently is this right?

You definitely will be able to get a policy to cover your medical and other travel risks, it's a matter of shopping around.

Travel insurance is absolutely essential, I was a travel rep for many years selling insurance as well as holidays.

The horror stories I heard over those years would make your toes curl, not only people trying to save £20 or so by not buying it, but those who lied about previous medical conditions or treatment like your own on their application forms.

It is ESSENTIAL when completing your application that you are 100% honest, otherwise your policy will be completely invalid, you may be asked to pay an excess on your policy to cover your condiditon that is the norm.

I once sold a holiday and insurance to a man who went to Benidorm, he failed to tell me on questioning about previous medical conditions, that he had recently had treatment in hospital for heart problems, he had a heart attack in Benidorm spent two weeks in intensive care and had to be flown home by air ambulance.

As his insurance was now invalid, he had to sell his house, car, everything to pay his expenses, he had saved £10 excess charge on his insurance by not telling me. If you have an hour or so I can tell you even worse cases.

There are many places you can get your insurance including the very good link already given, it is also very easy in your Post Office or even Tesco.

I dont think there will be a problem with getting travel insurance most agents do it on its own, you can either check out the post office as they tend to do travel insurance or the agent you booked your holiday with.

Also online you can do it any place on line. I think you might want to take up health insurance if you have recently been in hospital.

Check out this site it might help:-http://www.workgateways.com/working-uk-insurance.html

I am not sure where your from but i have listed the UK insurance. :)

TravelSafe Insurance, based in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, has what it calls a "Cancel For Any Reason" policy that offers up to 100 percent of a traveler's nonrefundable trip costs in cash, depending upon the amount of penalty assessed by the trip or tour provider.

I would try contacting them.

http://www.travelsafe.com/

You can get life ins.And right at the airport you can get a policy. Health insurance im' not sure..Any health issue co-exsisting wont be covered.any illness after the policy was take out then yes you'd be covered.

It just depends whats been wrong with you, I'm going to cyprus next week. The post office wanted £40 for a family of four, I got it at 1stoptravel insurance for £22.00. Good luck

no

It depends on your condition as to whether you'll get travel insurance. Your mum is quite correct in asking you to take travel insurance - I would always advice travel insurance in case you need medical treatment. Remember to apply for your EHIC card else your insurance may not pay out.

I use Worldwide Insure http://www.worldwideinsure.com/ as my travel insurer and can recommend them.

Where can I find cheap travel insurance for children in the UK?

A lot of the sites I have checked require an adult as well. I am 14, need to travel to America, and would like to spend as little money as possible on travel insurance.

I would try the post office, you cant do it online, but go in and get a leaflet and give them a call, when it comes to insurance cheap is not always best! YOU MUST CHECK THE COVER !!! for the USA you need the highest medical and you also need to check for personal libility is covered , as they sue for everything. Please please do not go for the cheapest quote if you fall ill it is just not worth it and you / your parents could be paying it off for years.

Good luck and have safe fun

xxxx

i would try STA Travel

they can provide a comprehensive package and its not the most expensive

Try Worldwide Insure. You won't be able buy online but they may be able to insure you if you phone them up.

Should I buy travel insurance for my honeymoon to Mexico?

We're headed to Playa Del Carmen for our honeymoon and it represents a significant amount of money. Is travel insurance worth it?

Absolutely. Buy it. It's not that much money at your age and it covers sickness, trip delay, trip interruption, medical expenses, reimbursement of many things. You never know and like you said the trip was not cheap. The unexpected can happen. It's peace of mind.

Good Luck and congrats)

The big thing I've heard is getting sometype of international health coverage insurance. Sorry forgot what its called but if you get sick, I guess the hospital practically holds you for ransom if you don't come up with the thousands in cash. Yea I'd be sure to get it.

I think not, its not like you're not going to go

Spend the money on each other

I think travel insurance is always worth it. I'm not sure if my parents got travel insurance for our last trip, but we definitely all got health insurance for the trip.

Yeah it's always worth it, you can get very cheap insurances if you look around, try the websites which take your details then look around for the best deals...

yes you should-many foreigners seem to be dying by falling drunk from third floors lately, also,if one of you falls ill and needs medical bills they will be astronomical with no insurance, way more than any insurance would cost.

Travel insurance for people with high blood pressure?

I have high blood pressure which is under control through tablets! Can anyone tell me any good travel insurance I can get without it costing a fortune please?

BP should have nothing whatever to do with the cost of travel insurance!

All the travel insurance policies I've ever seen, have excluded coverage for pre-existing conditions.

So whereever you go, read the policy terms BEFORE you buy.

If you're not looking for blood pressure/heart attack related stuff, the travel agent you buy your ticket from, should be able to hook you up with coverage.

Don't book your vacations through an insurance agent and DON'T buy insurance from a travel agent. Travel agents, although they need a license to sell it, don't understand insurance (as a general rule). They just know they get paid more when they sell the travel insurance. Buy travel insurance from an insurance agent who understands your other coverages.

Yes, if you're a US citizen YOU CAN buy a travel insurance policy to cover "unexpected recurrences" from a pre-existing condition IF you buy the coverage within (usually) 15 days of booking/making a deposit on a trip. If you didn't do this you can get a travel medical insurance policy that will cover limited amounts of pre-existing conditions.

I buy "Travel Lite" to cover trip costs and medical which is not covered by "regular" health insurance outside the US whenever I take an international trip and you can look at it on my site if you'd like.

Can get travel insurance after thyroid cancer?

A friend has had a cancer removed (about 7 months ago) and is due for another check-up in July 2008. We're travelling to USA in January and need to get travel insurance, but most companies say they won't medically insure anyone who has had cancer or is awaiting medical investigation. Can she get fully comprehensive insurance from anywhere?

I am sure there HAS to be some type of insurance out there for your friend, unfortionately I do not have the type. I bet your friend's doctor would be able to tell you though.

No. You must be cancer free (any type of cancer) for 2 years before she can get insurance. However, if she was insured before the cancer, she might be able to renew at a much higher rate. Sorry. I too was unable to be insured for 2 yrs after my breast cancer in 2000. I have checked several companies for you and they all said the same thing. Good Luck.

What means overseas travel insurance?

I have to go to Finland from India and the Finnish embasy requires an " overseas travel insurance" . what means overseas travel insurance? How much do I have to spend to get this insurance and where in India shall I apply for the same?

Check with your travel agent or an insurance agent in your country before you leave. You will be able to purchase it from your insurance agent.

Its to cover health costs if anything happens to you overseas.

Happy Travels

Some regular insurance companies do not have coverage out of the U.S. So you need to buy extra insurance when you travel overseas

Do you have to declare you are pregnant for travel insurance?

I am 17 weeks pregnant and going on holiday next week - when I booked the holiday the agent (when trying to sell me their travel insurance) said "Oh you're pregnant" like it mattered. Anyway their insurance was expensive so when finding cheaper online I noted there is no space to declare that I am pregnant on the online booking form - does it matter? Do I need to declare it?

It probably depends policy to policy - Have you got your EHIC yet? It's the replacement for an E111 form that entitles you to treatment in another EU country. I think it then says that the NHS will pay the country your in back or something I don't know!!

I would expect that the best policies would want it declared, but you might want to just read through all the small print of the one you want to find out.

Try the link - http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandguidance/Healthadvicefortravellers/Gettingtreatmentaroundtheworld/EEAandSwitzerland/DH_4114793

EDIT: It says this look!! Your EHIC should cover you for routine maternity care while you are away. However, if you are going to an EEA country or Switzerland specifically to have your baby, you will need an E112 form - see the 'Non-emergency treatment section' for more information.

I don't know if you'll be in time to get it through though!!

EDIT: This one tells you what you get in Spain, which includes the canaries xx

http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandguidance/Healthadvicefortravellers/Gettingtreatmentaroundtheworld/EEAandSwitzerland/EEAandSwitzerlandbycountry/DH_4114717

YES DEFINITELY.If you do not declare it and require medical assistance in relation to your pregnancy the insurance will be null and void and you will not get financial renumeration. Please don't forget that insurance companies will use anything against a claimant to get out of paying and they WILL say that as you failed to declare your pregnancy the insurance you took out was inadequate. You need to speak to the insurers over the phone before you apply online to ensure you will be covered.

I would think so if they ask health questions...

yes, its good for both; you and your baby ....

I don't think that it does.

I have never gotten travel insurance when I was pregnant. As long as your doctor says its ok to fly then go for it. You might feel a little nauseous but you will be fine!!

Hiya lovely Fraggle hunter

never seen any insurance form ask if you're pregnant - none of their business. As long as your doctor has no objections to you flying, then there's no medical issue.

Have a great holiday, we'll miss you but you deserve a nice break

I think you do.

it would be best to tell the insurance company.

It really is best to make enquiries with the travel company just in case it matters. They wont stop you flying but if you do not let them know then they may do.You dont want all that hassell for the sake of a phone call do you?

I truly don't know, but this is my guess. If you are pregnant you could be more sensitive to injury or death. You are essentially carrying two lives around. If you lose the baby in an accident, but you survive; I believe you'd expect monetary compensation. I believe you must declare that you are pregnant to protect yourself and your unborn child. Anything else would be fraud.

"Niamh" I'm writing this about "Niamh's" comment below. He is right, insurance companies are crooks and will do about anything so they don't have to pay. I read this story about 20 years ago about how insurance companies would try to devalue a person's life so they could pay very little. A man was killed in an airline accident. The insurance company noted that this man had never been married. So they went to court and proposed this: The man lived in a Florida city with a large gay population, seeing as how this guy was never married they said that he was gay and therefore must have AIDS. Therefore his life wasn't worth much since he would've died soon anyways. So much for insurance companies.

You don't have to say that you're pregnant but you should be aware that many companies won't cover medical complications arising out of pregnancy if the EDD is close to the date of return.

For 20 weeks there should be no problem - but always check the policy wording.

I would email the company to find out what their coverage is. Most travel insurance will cover pregnant women up to 26-27 weeks. After that, it's really hard to find any coverage. You should be fine, but I'd get the fine print first.

Much depends on how you value your life and your childs?

I think if you look at the small print on the cheaper version you will find you are flying uninsured.

Cabin pressure, medical attendance in flight, agreements with Countries you are flying over.

Flying whilst pregnant is high risk compared to flying when not; you get what you pay for.

Can you get travel insurance after booking my flights?

my mother said something about whatever credit card you book your ticket under that they have travel insurance that covers you anyway??is that true?

--- It's true, there are some credit cards that offers travel insurance, however you must purchase your flight tickets using their credit card to avail of this insurance. I advise you to contact your credit card provider to verify if they have this feature.

Nsee has given you a very good answer.... Call your credit card company to find out what they cover.

Yes, you can buy travel insurance after booking your ticket.

To be on the safe side if you need other coverage , I always purchase travel insurance from

http://www.accessamerica.com

Is Travel Insurance Mandatory for Travel to USA?

My parents are travelling to USA in feb, 2008. I just want to know whether travel insurance is mandatory for international travellers coming to USA on family visits?

If yes, may i have some insurance plans from reputable companies (at lower cost) which have good customer reviews?

I heard that "Travelers Liberty" plan is quite cheap and good for short trip, but don't know about the reputation and claim settlement efficiency of the company who is offering this plan.

Not exactally mandatory however, I believe that there is a requirement that the visitor have enough resources to be financially responsible.

Best place to find travel insurance is at a travel insurance comparison site like http://www.quotewright.com

yup u need it get the 20 million dollar one and make me the beneficiary of it.

no not mandatory

No, they are not mandatory. However, remember that health care in the US is very expensive, so some health insurance may be a good idea.

I don't think it is mandatory unless they are traveling with a group that requires it.

Watch out...there are a lot of ripoffs out there. If it isn't mandatory, don't buy it. It isn't a good investment.

maybe

No. u heard wrong.

Any comprehensive annual travel insurance that you recommend?

I am a frequent flyer...Is there any good and comprehensive annual travel insurance plan that you recommend?

If you are a resident of the US (citizenship and your current location do not matter), you might want to check out this program from Lloyd's of London.

https://online.piu.org/online_major_medical/index/GYMIDR

MAY BE IAPA BUT I found interesting information about your answer & THE BEST options here. http://all-insurance-online.blogspot.com/2007/08/specialty-insurance.html

Squaremouth is a good place to check as it has lots of carriers and products with in-depth comparison options as well as sort by Price and benefit.

You can also filter the results by the activities plan on doing while away. This will remove policies that do not cover those activities.

UK residents travel insurance:

http://www.squaremouth.co.uk

US Residents travel insurance:

http://www.squaremouth.com

On the US site, annual plans have their own section.

Do you travel internationally? If so, you can get on a plan called The International Citizen Series by Lloyd's of London.

if you travel domestically, check out a plan called The Atlas Professional. That plan is specifically designed for the frequent business traveler. You can find them both online at http://www.overseashealth.com

Youcan even apply right online and print out your ID cards on the spot

You can try IAPA â€" www.iapa.com

The annual membership fee is 69GBP(US$129), which includes free US$100,000 travel accident insurance, baggage, car rental, and credit card insurance, with an optional upgrade to increase cover for medical, public transport and trip accident etc. There are also discounted flights and hotels booking and car rental for members, which I think it’s a pretty good deal. You may visit their site for more details.

Hope this helps.

Reccomendations for medical travel insurance for non US resident traveling to the UK?

I'm living in Pennsylvania for a year, but I'm originally from Argentina. I'm traveling to the UK in a couple of weeks, and I'd like to get medical travel insurance. I'm at a total loss because I don't know the insurance companies and I'm not sure what the best option would be. From your experience, could you recommend one or two for me? Thanx!

Your best bet is to visit a travel insurance comparison web site and look for either "package" travel insurance plans or "travel medical" plans. Most travel insurance comparison web sites qualify travel insurance companies before listing them on their sites.

Both "package" and "travel medical" plans contain medical coverage and medical evacuation. The "package" policies also contain other coverages such as travel delay and broad baggage coverage and trip cancellation coverage can also be added. Also the package policies base eligibility on where you reside rather than your citizenship.

It's worth to get travel insurance to go to Paris and Spain?

I'm planning to go to Paris and several provinces of Spain. Should I get travel insurance? Any good suggestions on companies?

It's only worth getting travel insurance if you have to use it.

If you live in the USA or Canada, you can get Trip Cancellation / Interruption Insurance plans that include emergency medical / evacuation coverage plus they will reimburse you for the money you lose if your doctor advises you against travel because of a sickness or injury.

You can also cover pre-existing conditions.

Go here for more information: http://www.TripInsuranceStore.com

Definately, A friend of mine got robbed in Paris Tickets, camera passport cards and money ,if they didnt have insurance they would have been stuck there. They got compensated for everything. Not sure which Insurance Company.

Absolutely.....not only for some of the reasons mentioned by others. But I can almost all but guarantee you that you aren't medically covered internationally. Most aren't for reasons that well not everyone leaves the state, let alone the country and if they covered people for this then premiums would only go up.

TravelEx as someone else mentioned is who our company works with. There prices are based on trip cost and age at time of travel. If you like email me and I can help you in purchasing this. In all honesty it takes me but 5 min. I wouldn't even charge a service fee and don't for my normal clients either. I am so passionate about insurance due to my sister getting in a major car accident in Costa Rica a few years back. She didn't have medical insurance and it cost her a lot of money in the end. Because of this I would be happy to take some time, help you with this and know that you have it! =) I then send you a receipt in the mail along with the insurance company mails a benefits package to your home. Insurance takes 24 hours for it to go into effect after purchase.

Depending on when your travel was purchased will determine if you would be covered for pre-existing medical conditions if you or any travel companions had any that is.

I would recommend getting travel insurance if you are making multiple airline and/or train connections. There are many things that can go wrong and cause you to miss one or to lose luggage.

I always use Travelux and have even filed a claim with them and they paid promptly.

Yep - and you'll find it probably costs you less than $20 if you call 1-800-cover-me

Ohip will only pay 40-60% of unexpected out of country medical. If you accidentally broke your leg you'd be broke!

definately. There are many companies to choose from, I like CSA travel insurance and trip guard myself.

How do i refund my eticket going to america which is a restricted ticket from the travel insurance?

what's the best thing to do or a very good reason to the travel insurance to avail of a refund? i'm travelling on august yet but already have bought the eticket & travel insurance.

Read your contract with the travel insurance company. It will describe the rules and conditions. If you cannot meet those conditions, talk to your travel agent; there may be other options.

Are airline tickets bought with MasterCard automatically covered with travel insurance?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 14 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552

I bought a British Airways return airline ticket from London to Chicago (USA) and travelled this month - december 2007. Unfortunately I lost my wallet in a taxi. Am I covered by travel insurance just by purchasing the ticket with my MasterCard?

As the previous respondent said, not all MasterCards are created equal. That said, however, you COULD be covered. But based on your description of events, whether you are or not may well be moot.

If all that was lost was your wallet, the "replaceable" items would be limited to credit cards -- and those will be replace by the individual card issuers anyway. Likewise, travelers checks are "replaceable" without insurance. If it's cash you lost, it's extremely unlikely that you'll be covered even if you do have travel insurance. The only cases in which cash might be replaces is if there is a clear record of a cash withdrawal transaction AND your policy specifically has a cash coverage clause.

These stories do sometimes have happy endings: Yo Yo Ma famously left a priceless cello in a New York City cab . . . and it was returned to him a week later. I hope your story has a happy ending too.

Good luck!

Kango Traveler

Not all MasterCards are the same. You have to call the issuer of your card and ask.

How can I set up my own Travel Insurance Company? (and will someone give me a few million to help me start off?

วันพุธที่ 13 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552

I would like to start my own travel insurance company to help people with pre-existing medical conditions, how do I do it then!?

Mbrcatz's answer is irrelevant and incorrect for the UK (or most of the world for that matter) ..... you've hit the nail on the head, it's all about capital and you need tens of millions to do what you are talking about and the start up costs are HUGE... don't forget you'll need accountants, claims professionals, compliance and complaints officers etc etc BEFORE you can sell a single policy. I reckon you'd do better than a million in staff costs before you collected a penny in premium. (60 staff avg £50k a year..which is laughably cheap staff costing in the UK ins market... for 4 months = £1m)

You also need to be able to cope with a catastrophe from day 1... an insurer has to be able to survive a 1 in 200 year event. That is.... what is the WORST thing that could happen (even if it happens only once every 200 years). In the case of travel it's usually a epidemic which traps a lot of sick people abroad.

How did the big guys start ? Good question..... most of them can trace their history back donkeys years and raised the capital by issuing shares (and increasing that capital over the years) or in the case of Lloyds forming a syndicate of indivduals willing to risk their personal wealth.

Remember you can't 'borrow' money to do this as a loan or loan stock doesn't count as capital (I won't get into Tier1 Tier 2 technicalities).

So forget all that nonsense about hiring actuaries and lawyers... your best bet would be to approach existing companies (or a Lloyds syndicate) with your idea and say ..... "how much do you want to carry this niche market risk". They have their own actuaries etc and as long as you presesnt a serious proposition in a professional manner they WILL listen to you and it won't cost you a bean. You may get a 'binder' type policy (i.e. a special one written just for you) which allows you to underwite risks (within certain parameters obviously) on their behalf. That way they take an awful lot (though not all of the start up costs away) if your business is successful then in 10 years you'll have enough of a track record to go to market and raise the capital to underwrite the business yourself.

I admire your ambition.... but trust me starting an insurance company from scratch is a non starter... not even banks do it, they buy existing insurers (RBS - Directline etc).

If you are really serious and you want to discuss further, drop me a line I'd be glad to point you in the right direction.

First off you'll need a few tens of millions of dollars to satisfy any regulatory body's requirements that you'll have enough capital to handle initial claims. Second expect to never make a profit and to go out of business within a few years. There are two reasons that travel insurance companies exclude preexisting medical conditions. One: some conditions become aggravated by travel, however some people are going to travel no matter what the doctor says. However if they have to pay for that decision then they might be dissuaded from traveling. Your policy acts to take away that risk. Second: many people who have a condition that cannot be treated in their home country or not treated well in their home country would purchase your policy, travel to a country with better medical facilities, and then file a claim saying their condition acted up and they needed treatment. Once you pay out this claim others will follow suit until you either: a) raise your rates big time to cope with all the claims, your volume drops and you go out of business or b) the claims become more than your capital can handle and you go out of business.

Well, first you do the feasability studies, hire actuaries and lawyers to write the policies and determine rates. Then you submit the business plan to your insurance commissioner for review, and your financials to prove you can pay the claims.

Can I get travel insurance for 2 days to cover RWC trip?

Going to the Rugby World Cup semi final tomorrow. Does anyone know if I can get travel insurance to cover me for just 2 days? I need it cheap otherwise I won't bother.

The answer is yes and I suggests you do! I actually came across a Rugby World Cup promotion from Travel Insurance Web - they already claim to be the cheapest UK travel insurance provider and now are offering 20% off all policies bought before the end of the tournament to celebrate England's success in getting through to the semi-finals.

I just got a quote based on 2 days to France - £3.80!

You don't have to be travelling to the RWC to take advantage of the offer either!

Try Squaremouth.co.uk.

Where can I get travel insurance without medical cover?

I'm going to work abroad on a 6 month contract and want to cover my possessions, passport etc whilst in transit (will be making a few flights in this 6 months). However, as part of my contract I am getting private medical insurance, so I don't want to be paying for medical cover on the travel insurance. Does anyone know of a company who might do this? Or do I need to look at a different kind of policy, ie not travel insurance? Thanks very much

If you open a privilege account with the co-operative bank it is free cover for the whole of your account life. No worries ,no extras, anywhere in the world.

Try insure2go.com

Contact your bank and see if they can help you in this respect. They might be able to provide a cover that is far cheaper than most insurance companies.

Travel insurance will always cover medical costs as well as your possessions so it's whether you're prepared to pay for an Annual Travel policy knowing that part of that policy you already have covered elsewhere.

I would also check your private medical insurance policy to make sure you are covered for incidents abroad and that it offers the same level of cover that a Travel Insurance policy would. You might find that you need both policies to cover every eventuality.

Your home contents insurance might also provide some level of cover for possessions that you take abroad. I would contact them or check your policy wording.

For the best Annual Travel insurance policies in the UK I would look at The Broker Portals list if recommended Insurance Brokers and Companies.

Good luck.

Any reasonably good general insurance company will offer this package to you. You can look at AG. If you are in India try Tata-AG, Oriental, etc.

Travel insurance companies can be reviewed online. You can see what company it best for your travel needs. Taking the time to inform yourself of what is covered, can make your trip much more enjoyable. You will know you have the proper coverage while traveling abroad. You never know what can happen in today’s travel adventures.

Travel insurance policies are easier to compare with fast online access. You can compare several travel insurance companies and their policies with a few clicks of your computer mouse.

Taking the time to educate yourself can help save you from a large financial lose, if a medical emergency were to happen while traveling abroad.

Access America Travel Insurance offers one of the most popular travel insurance plans. Again be sure to see if the plan is right for your travel needs.

dont advise it get all the cover thats thrown at you

How do I get travel insurance if I'm not a resident of the country I live in?

วันอังคารที่ 12 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552

Every insurance quote asks if I am a resident of the country I am presently in (Spain). I'm not a resident of Spain and I haven't lived in my country for over 6 months (UK). Where can I get Travel Insurance from?

What is the cheapest company in the uk to get travel insurance from?

travelling to thailand and got to get hold of some travel insurance but obviously want to find the cheapest as im a student, please help!

Try squaremouth.co.uk. It's a comparison site where you can filter out products based on things like adventure travel, student etc.

Try the post office and check with your bank --some accounts give you free access to insurance.

go to http://www.travelsupermarket.com

Go to the hol insurance section and enter your requirements, it will compare all deals and offers in price order.

When i looked on there last time single trips for an individual in europe the charges started at about £3.00!!! May be a bit more expensive for further afield....

try internet comparison sites, like money supermarket, kelkoo etc. as you are a student, does your uni or college not have recommended travel insurance in place? also post office is one of the cheapest but you could also try tesco, asda etc. but as I said before best to you the price comparison site on the web - much faster and easier! have fun on your travels!

for backpacker travel insurance to aisa try http://www.worldwidetravelplan.co.uk

Try Swift insurance. I have my car insurance with them and they are the cheapest for that so presume they would be quite cheap for travel insurance too. They are internet based so they don't have to pay anyone (apart from helpdesk) so you benefit.

You have to do a lot of searching on the net for best price vs best cover,

I found the best cover was with insureandgo, I got platinum annual worldwide cover for 2 adults and a child for 110pound.

A friend of mine travells every couple of months, she uses them and has had to claim twice too, there has never been any problems with her claims and they've paid up in good time for both. good luck

go to www.newcenturyworldtravel.com

columbus direct do really cheap insurance

I used the Post Office when I recently went to Thailand, I think it was around £50. I also got my camera stolen when I was there and the claim was settled quickly. :o)

No straight answer to your question, but I use Atlas Direct. They're cheap and when I had a claim they settled it without any messing about.

The cheapest is of course not necessarily the best. Youl could try www.portwood.co.uk who have several long stay policies available, with full product details easily available.

What is a great deal for annual travel insurance in Europe?

I'm looking for annual travel insurance that's quite affordable. I'm living in the UK and am staying here for another 6-7 months, my travel insurance i had has expired and I don't want to go with them as I believe they're a bit too expensive. It's only for travel in Europe with no skiing involved, but scuba diving probably. I'm 28 years old. Do most travel insurances cover loss or theft of electronic items?

log onto moneysupermarket and they will find the best deals

lloyds tsb free with plaitum account !

most travel insurance does not include theft unless you pay extra. They usually only cover sickness or injury because other countries want to know that when you get hurt.........their not paying for it. I have seen some pretty good prices out of the UK for under 150 dollars (not including theft insurance). And, when you do get the extra insurance for theft, it is only up to a certain limit. It also helps to take pictures of belongings.

check out the post office insurance. I used them in the past and was quite happy with them and they are quite cheap!

Try some of the supermarkets like tesco or sainsburys as they do some great deals

What exactly does Travel Insurance cover me for?

I am leaving for a three week trip to England on Monday and I have travel insurance set up by my family but I have no idea what it covers me for? Is it if I can't go on the trip or if I get sick on the trip, or if I lose my stuff or something?

Travel insurance plans offer coverage for vacation and trip cancellation, travel interruptions and delays, emergency medical and health expenses, lost baggage and more.

Your plan might also include 24-hour "911" travel emergency service for emergency medical assistance, last-minute or emergency travel and flight changes, lost luggage tracking, pre-trip travel advice and more.

You have to see the policy certificate because you can buy different levels of coverage.

you have to read the contract.there are a lot of different plans,,,,,,,,

I am looking for any UK travel insurance company that covers cancellation due to not being able to get visa?

วันศุกร์ที่ 8 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552

I live in UK. I booked a holiday in Spain. I applied for a visa. However, the travel insurance I did does not refund me if I failed to get the Schengen visa. Does any one know of a UK insurance company that offers insurance that covers trip cancellation due to visa request being rejected by the consular?

You have to buy insurance before the cancellation. No one will cover that loss now after the fact.

hello,

How does Travel Insurance work with Lost/stolen luggage?must you have receipts for everything in bag?

Ok Im considering buying travel insurance, but Im just wondering how does it work with Lost/stolen baggage...for example..Youre in a taxi and the taxi takes off with your baggage..In order to get reimbursed for what you lost must you have receipts of everything in that bag?can you get up to a certain amount without receipts?

and once you make a claim how long does it take for you to get reimbursed?does it happen while youre still on vacation?

Thanks

Usually these types of policies reimburse on non specific items based on a capped rate. You have to read the policy carefully to determine coverage. (you ask a good question though)

I usually use TravelEx. They have been great to me in the past when I have needed to file a claim. Here is a link for a free quote.

Can anyone recommend a particular travel insurance for these circumstances?

วันพุธที่ 6 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552

My partner and I are supposed to be going on holiday in 2 weeks. However, his grandad has just been diagnosed with cancer and it doesn't look hopeful. If he (God forbid) should pass away soon, the funeral will more than likely be the week in which we were supposed to be going away. Of course we will not be able to go on holiday as attending his funeral is more important. However, I was wondering whether there is a travel insurance policy we could purchase which will cover us for such an event? We have booked our flights and hotel separately online.

That's a difficult and unfortunate one, sorry to hear your in this position. I've heard that some travel insurers wont pay out in these circumstances as your aware of this at the time of taking the policy out. I'd try a site like moneysupermarket as they will give you lots of options and you can look at the terms and conditions on there too to make sure your covered first :) hope this helps and my sympathy is with you at this time.

The Post Office is supposed to be pretty good with travel insurance.

However, specify the circumstances before you purchase with any company and ENSURE you will definitely be covered.

Call the airline and/or hotel or contact your credit card companies and ask them for this. Your credit card may have automatic insurance.

As a broker offering travel insurance I don't think that there is anyone who would provide cancellation cover under those circumstances.

I am sorry about your circumstances, but this is a good example why travel insurance should be purchased as soon as the holiday is booked - as cancellation cover starts immediately.

What company has the cheapest single trip travel insurance for a trip to australia for the over 70's?

วันศุกร์ที่ 10 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I looking to get as cheap as possible travel insurance to visit my entire family in Australia, can anyone help?

I just bought travel medical insurance for my father in law who is 70 and coming to the USA from China. TravelEx will cover for pre-existing conditions so long as you purchase 21 days in advance, if there are no pre-existing cond. then its no problem - You can get a free quote here --> http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index.asp?location=07-0018

You will need to book that through a company in your home country, you can't do that through Australia.

A tip though, most insurance companies offer travel insurance, so if you hold any other insurance look through them first, they usually give a discount.

The best site I know of for the more senior traveller wanting insurance is Insure For All - http://www.insureforall.com - I know they're MUCH cheaper than Saga... not sure how they come up against others in the market.

Good luck!

Try Saga. They do the cheapest annual so it could follow for the single trip.

What can I do when the travel insurance company denies a claim?

วันอังคารที่ 7 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I bought a travel insurance for my dad when he came to visit last year. It was for an emergency coverage. He did got an emergency treatment for kidney failure. After long process of filing, now I got the news that it is denied due to pre-existing condition. What can anybody suggest that I do?

You'd have to hire a lawyer. The fine print in those insurance policies renders almost any illness as "pre-existing".

Get their declination in writing and ask that it specify the exact reason why they are declining your father's claim. Once you have it in writing then compare it to the policy. Is it in fact a pre-existing condition or is there a misunderstanding? To be considered a pre-existing medical condition it has to fit their definition. If it doesn't than it's not a pre-existing condition. Depending on what you find out you can ask the insurance company to have a supervisor review your father's claim. Make sure you explain why you feel it is covered and why it's not a pre-existing condition. If you still haven't received satisfaction than you can go to your State Insurance Department and file a consumer claim complaint with them.

Where is the best place to compare travel insurance products and find the best value?

วันจันทร์ที่ 6 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I am interested in worldwide travel insurance to cover multi activity, baby and US travel. But I want to get the most for my money, not just the cheapest

I would call an insurance broker - they have a range of policies that are half decent. Internet policies (aggregator especially) tend to exlcude pre-existing medical conditions, terrorism cover and have high excesses (to get the price down) whereas a broker will offer you a better policy.

One of the best cover wise is the BIBA travel insurance scheme - £40 excess per person per incident (not per section) with a £80 excess maximum per family. The annual policy is 45 days a trip.

With regards to activities, quite a range is covered but a broker will ask you about higher risk activities and recommend a policy that covers them.

try 1stoptravelinsurance.co.uk

Money Supermarket - Travel Insurance http://www.moneysupermarket.com/travelinsurance/ But if you have a pre-existing medical condition I would suggest you contact a local broker.

Try Squaremouth. Its a comparison site that has sort by price, sort by best benefit and policy side by side comparison.

You can also filter by other things such as hazardous sports.

http://www.squaremouth.co.uk.

There is also a USA site which may be worth checking out due to the good exchange rate at:

http://www.squaremouth.com.

Based on your question, I just want to warn you that a bunch of people are going to suggest to you that you check out a company called Squaremouth. Please be advised this company is notorious for posting their spam here. It has been a big topic of discussion among a travel forum that I subscribe to. Many of my fellow travelers have been directed there, only to find they do NOT have the best deals. I think they must pay people to lurk in yahoo answers and get themselves some free advertisement. If you want to email me privately I will point you in the direction of some honest folks who have been in the biz for 30+ years and can get you a good deal and lots of options. Also, avoid insurance offered through travel agents and the post office. Here's wishing you a safe journey!!!

If you will email me. I can give you several very excellent companies.

What to avoid when choosing an annual travel insurance?

วันอาทิตย์ที่ 5 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

We are choosing annual travel insurance because of frequent short trips over the weekends or a 1 week trip. Having many options out there has overwhelmed us with a lot of information. Therefore, we would want to find out what are the "No" that we should consider filtering the options?

I found interesting information about your answer here. http://all-insurance-online.blogspot.com/2007/08/specialty-insurance.html

Good luck!

How do you find good travel insurance?

วันเสาร์ที่ 4 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

We're traveling to England in May - I've never bought travel insurance and want to know how we find good/reliable insurance? Thanks.

There are some good travel insurance companies. Get ones that pay your expenses or pay you in cash. Dont get ones that make you take another trip or give you a voucher to travel again with them.

I only buy insurance if the trip is WAY more than I can afford to lose.

Read the fine print of the policies before you purchase.

try http://www.simplyinsurancequotes.com/travel-insurance-quote.php?a12 they start at $30 and have offices there. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080313053101AA0pKM2&kid=E7xIImzNOHJAMdHOOhhV&s=comm&date=2009-01-11+23%3A34%3A36&.crumb=

What does this mean in travel insurance description?

วันศุกร์ที่ 3 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

Every travel insurance policy I read says something along these lines:

"Exclusions.

The policy does not

cover any loss caused by:

pregnancy or childbirth, or elective abortion, other than

the Complications of Pregnancy;"

What do they mean by "other than complications of pregnancy"?

Does that mean that if i purchased their insurance they would not pay for doctor check-ups, but they would pay for a pregnancy emergency?

I know they generally don't cover pregnancy, but what if something goes wrong and the child comes three months early, or gets sick, or such?

I would be really grateful for any answers. Thanks.

If you had an unforseen pregnancy complication - like toxemia, they'd pay, IF IF IF the high blood pressure wasn't pre-existing, which it probably was.

If the BABY comes early, the BABY flat out isn't covered. Only the TRAVELER is covered, and usually only for ACCIDENTS.

Travel insurance is NOTORIOUS for not paying for "health" issues. It's intended, for a broken ankle kinda thing. NOT for, oh, you had a heart attack because you're overweight and had high cholesterol.

Is travel insurance a requirement to travel to the USA?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 2 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I have a relative looking to visit me here in the USA. They have obtained all of the required visa and documents to travel. The airline though is asking them for travel insurance information. They claim that people have to have insurance before they can travel. Is this true? I know when I travel internationally, I do not have to get anything.

It could very well be true. Although they are different countries to where you are, we are in the UK and when we book to go to Ireland the company we book with insists on having our insurance details. Besides, as the first answerer says...they would be daft to travel without it as the cost of treatment is far more than the cost of the insurance. Accidents do happen...believe me, I broke an elbow last year, and a few weeks after that was healed I broke my foot...if I had been abroad I would have been in sh*t street without insurance!

Travel insurance is not a requirement, but it is a good idea for any reason (illness, missed flight, etc.) you can't follow through with the trip. It is not that expensive and would allow the traveler to be reimbursed for their travel expenses.

It is not true but it would be foolish to travel to USA without insurance.A few days in hospital would cost thousands of dollars.Even a visit to a doctor would cost you ten times the price of insurance.

You may try to google it,here http://www.InsuranceFreeTip.info/insurance-for-free.htm has some direct resource that might be helpful.

What is best world cover travel insurance?

วันพุธที่ 1 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2552

I stay in UK and at end of month will travel to China and need to get travel insurance, probably annual in case I go off again somewhere in a years time. Previously I was with Direct Travel Insurance, they seem to have good cover and are reasonable, but do you know a better one? Pray tell!

Im with Boots,

annual, worldwide.

£125 for a family policy.

From my personal experience (I travel to China ten times per year for periods of one to two months each time.)

I like TravelEx insurance. They have offices in China, and they have always been prompt at dispursing claims I've made for travel delay. I've never had the chance to test the metal of their medical component though it appears to be robust.

You can get a quote at this link below:

http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index.asp?location=07-0018

Check out the insurance with the Post Office, I have found them with good terms and conditions and competitive in the past.

Susan got it right, TravelEx is definately the way to go.

Travel insurance that will cover my laptop and camera?

วันอังคารที่ 31 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2552

I'm looking for a basic travelers insurance that will cover accidents and theft to my electronics without huge deductables or insane exclusions. Any recommendations?

**I am not looking for renters insurance, just travel insurance.

Checkout their theft rider, and the link for a free quote. http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index.asp?location=07-0018

You should look for a "package" travel insurance plan. Those plans include baggage insurance which is a form of property coverage that is limited to personal effects and luggage. Most plans will either limit the amount they will pay for loss of electronic devices or will exclude them entirely.

A good site to start with is: http://www.quotewright.com/travel_coverages/baggage_limit.html?product=bundle

However, you're probably not going to have to many options for electronic devices. They haven't been too popular with travel insurance companies in the past several years.

Certain credit card companies offer travel insurance when you purchase your flight ticket with their credit card, such as American Express, and maybe Discover Card. So, check with your credit card company and see what they offer.

Or, check with your insurance agent (auto, home, etc.).

In Travel Insurance why is there a large difference in premiums when the policies are similar?

วันศุกร์ที่ 27 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2552

I have been comparing travel insurance for two people under 60 for four days in europe. I have checked the excess details and there is no considerable difference between the different insurers. The policies I viewed are almost identicle and where I have seen differences, they are negligible.

So why have I seen policies with premiums as high as £30 and some low as £6-£7 (and the insurance is covered by big insurers for the low ones I found too). I looked at the small print and again from what I could make of it, there was no considerable difference.

What's the difference then? What am I missing? and if it is as black and white as I can see, then is it worth me just buying the insurance at the cost of £7?

As someone who's a qualified underwriter and once actually wrote the small print ..................

Travel insurance as sold by travel agents is one huge scam.

Once one sets aside the stuff sold by travel agents, the difference tends to hinge on three things:

1. the method of selling: companies geared up to selling on the internet have very low overheads compared to others

2. the strictness of underwriting i.e. how they treat "substandard lives." Some policies are only offered at standard rates to people who in effect have never had a day's illness in their lives. If you've ever been near a hospital for anything or if your parents died before they were 80 you aren't covered, even if they've taken your premium. It's all there in the small print, if you could understand it.

3. the claims policy of the company concerned. Some companies keep the premiums low by contesting every last penny of every claim and in effect paying out next to nothing. Others charge more but pay out more readily.

Read the small print VERY carefully.

For what it's worth -- and it's decades since I worked in insurance and there's nothing in it for me! -- I've used

www.simpletravelinsurance.co.uk

with considerable satisfaction. It's an example of the sort of company that keeps the price down by using the internet via a well-designed website.

No one company is best for everyone, though, so do your homework thoroughly.

If you absolutely must use a travel agent's insurance, then Trailfinders are as good as any of the travel agents' insurance offerings.

www.trailfinders.com

Nothing at all wrong with it, but there's cheaper out there on the web that's just as good.

Is one for a single trip and the other for a whole year? Or one just European and the other worldwide cover? Or perhaps one covers you for damage/loss? Did you give exactly the same answers to the medical questions in both cases as they may have underwritten you differently?

If none of these apply, you will probably be better off with the cheaper one. It is advisable if you are travelling in Europe to get the NHS cover as the person above suggests. You can apply for it online. It's a really simple form and we got our little card jobbies three days later. If you check on the Dept of Health website, it explains on there that there are certain instances where the medical insurance will not cover you if you do not have the E111 equivalent card completed.

the premium can vary based on

1. the duration of stay ; you may be buying a one-year or longer duration cover for one,

2. based on their biodata one person may have a higher risk rating thean the other in terms of health, age, claims experience etc.,

3. one may have a higher limit of indemnity

why u want trav insurance...

get an ehic card

just use an E1 11 form - its free

whatever treatment you have in a European hospital, the NHS will cover the cost.

might have to check if it doesn't cover certain things.

The differences’ might be the same as Persil and Daz. they are made in the same factory, by the same people, but one is more expensive than the other - why? you can cover two markets at the same time.

The more expensive will sell less but have higher percentage profits, the others the opposite - general market stuff i presume.

How much does travel insurance cost for 3 months?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 26 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2552

Hi guys. I'm planning a trip to los angeles in June 2010 for 3 months and im trying to calculate the amount of money i'll need.

The problem is, i have no idea how this travel insurance stuff works,so how much would travel insurance cost me for this period?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Try this site for a quick quote on travel medical insurance. TravelEx allows for pre-existing conditions. ---> http://www.travelex-insurance.com/index.asp?location=07-0018

I recommend using the below Travel company, They are very competertive on there premiums as they do not owe commission to advertising websites, And the service is nothing less that A*. http://www.cover2travel.co.uk/index.aspx?rs_id=Jd_a243ced http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20081026233050AAjfLIw&kid=QswqLUnBLnLqq2hRg.Cl&s=comm&date=2009-03-26+04%3A14%3A19&.crumb=

If you are looking for trip cancellation insurance, the price is usually 7-10 % of the trip cost. The price does vary depending on the number of travelers and the ages of the travelers. Sometimes even the destination plays a part in the final cost.

If you just want travel medical and evacuation coverage, the price of the policy will depend on your age and length of the trip. If you are 30 traveling for 3 months, you can find travel medical policies starting at $94. The price will increase if you are older and it should decrease if you are younger.

Here is the site I used to obtain the quote:

http://www.insuremytrip.com/

Hey, you could have a look at UKNetGuide, they have a nice travel insurance comparison table...

http://www.uknetguide.co.uk/Insurance/Travel-Insurance-Comparison/Single-Holiday/

Ideally you would probably look for Single Trip travel insurance to cover you for the specific time you are in the States - they have deals from £5.85 and you could benefit from 10% online discount.

It varies by where you live, your age, and what type of coverage you're interested in; travel medical or comprehensive travel policies.

It's best to review some of the web sites that allow you to quote different plans for the same trip. The best site in the USA for doing this is http://www.quotewright.com.

Last time I’ve purchased it from Travel Guard I paid $46 for one week. How much it will cost for 3 months? I am afraid it will cost a lot more.

Check out the website for free online quotes. You may be able to enter your specific parameters and get a quote and even buy the policy online

What are the benefits of travel insurance for domestic travel in Australia?

วันพุธที่ 25 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2552

I am travelling to Syndey this weeked for a holiday from Brisbane. Should I get travel insurance? I have private health insurance. I don't think it is necessary. I have had travel insurance before but this was for overseas travel.

One major thing that your health insurance won't cover though is problems with the airline/flight. For example, one trip from Melbourne - Gold Coast couldn't take off because of flooding on the Gold Coast. All that the airline could offer was a flight 2 days later or a credit. My travel insurance picked up the difference (about $350 extra) to change to a different airline and fly into Brisbane later that day.

Other things to consider, if you get sick while you're away or even before you are due to go and you can't fly on the day you have booked, if you don't give 24 hours notice you won't be able to change your date on discounted tickets and you then have to forfeit your ticket and buy a new one for when you are well enough. Travel insurance would cover this.

Mind you, there are many people out there who don't take insurance for domestic trips, I guess it comes down to whether you have to money to cover it if something goes wrong....

Find more about this at: http://world24hours.googlepages.com/13222 (insurance) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070501203350AAyTgMl&kid=I6dkD1reKmLrJ_MQXuEQ&s=comm&date=2008-07-28+08%3A33%3A59&.crumb=

I never get travel insurance for domestic travel. My household contents insurance covers lost or stolen stuff, and my health insurance covers health problems.

Travel Insurance?

I am a british citizen, planning on visiting the US for about 80 days. What I am looking for is good, cheap, reliable travel insurance. I've seen some quotes that cost as much as the flight itself so any assistance would be appreciated.

--Thanks.

I think that you will find a great deal on Moneysupermarket.com thats where I got my travel insurance, and they actually had to pay out on my policy as I ended up in a French hospital.

My insurance was about 40pounds, and it was for annual insurance! I think from memory you could go away for up to 94 days at a time, or 17days at a time if you included winter sports.

Hope this helps - just remember to read the small print about how many consecutive days away from the UK you are covered for! Happy Travels!

try http://www.simplyinsurancequotes.com/travel-insurance-quote.php?a13 they start at $30 It's an American company. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080114194536AAEeU1d&kid=E7xIImzNOHJAMdHOOhhV&s=comm&date=2009-01-11+23%3A36%3A39&.crumb=

I used to use columbus direct.com which seemd to be reasonable but insurance to the USA is always quite expensive because of the medical costs there and you need proper coverage for medical emergencies.

I would suggest worldnomads.com. They're very reasonably priced.
